Bruce Irvin: “It wasn’t the intention”

Here’s what Seattle linebacker Bruce Irvin had to say about what happened before the game, as well as a few other things:

(On if he intended to throw Jimmy Graham off of his game today with what happened prior to the game…) “It wasn’t the intention. I just felt disrespected and I tried to stand up for what I believe in. My intentions were not to get his mind off his game. Fortunately, it happened like that. So I’m not complaining, but that was not my intention.”

(On if he expected the Saints to emphasize the run today…) “I kind of figured they would. After the last game, we were successful on stopping Drew Brees from passing and they made it seem like they were going to come out and be physical and run the ball. They were successful early on, but we made the adjustments and kind of slowed them down.”

(On if he could sense the frustration from Jimmy Graham after being shutdown from receptions in today’s game…) “Yeah Jimmy [Graham] is the guy who wants to get open in zones, find windows, and make easy catches. He doesn’t want to be physical. So our biggest thing was to put our hands on him and make him be physical. That’s something that he didn’t want to do and I think it was successful.”
