Can it get any bigger than this?
The Seahawks playing their most hated rival for the chance to go to the Super Bowl?
That’s the setting now as the San Francisco 49ers defeated the Carolina Panthers 23-10 in an NFC Divisional playoff game today to advance to the NFC Championship game against the Seahawks at CenturyLink Field next Sunday. Kickoff is 3:30 p.m.
It’ll be the third time the two teams have played this season.
It will also be the third game between the two teams in Seattle in roughly 14 months. Seattle also beat the 49ers 42-13 at CenturyLink Field in Dec., 2012, 42-13.
The combined point total of Seattle’s two wins against the 49ers the last two years at CenturyLink Field — 71-16 — will undoubtedly get a lot of play this week.
But the 49ers will undoubtedly feel more confident coming into Seattle now after winning at Green Bay and Carolina the last two weeks.
“We are a different team than the first time we played them up there,” 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick said in an interview on FOX immediately after the game. “We have a lot of key playmakers back and we are ready to go.”
Danny Sheridan of USA Today established the Seahawks as a three-point favorite:
