Kaepernick rips into Richard Sherman

Who would have thought that the most inflammatory comments of Super Bowl week would come from someone not even playing in the game?

So it was today, though, that 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick, who was in town for some promotional work, ripped into Richard Sherman during a few interviews this morning.

Here’s a roundup of what Kaepernick had to say from Pro Football Talk, including this quote on the final pass: “If I throw that ball one foot farther, it’s a TD and now you’re the goat, Richard Sherman.”

And here’s a more complete version from the New York Post, which includes this quote: “I will take that matchup every day. I feel like he’s afraid of our receivers and that’s something I look forward to (exploiting) next year.”

He also said “Go Peyton (Manning)!”

Unfortunately, this all broke after Sherman did his media session today, so there won’t be any chance for us to ask for his response.

However, Sherman’s brother, Branton, Tweeted this:

All of this no doubt adds even more fuel to the already white-hot Seahawks-49ers rivalry. There’s already been speculation one of the Seattle-SF games could be picked for the NFL opening Thursday night package of games and this would only add to the already immense number of storylines.
