One of Seattle’s key free agents is receiver Golden Tate.
And following the parade and celebration at CenturyLink Field today, Tate said what you would expect — that he would like to stay with the Seahawks.
“I would love to be a part of it,” he said, of Seattle’s future. “We’ll see. Only time will tell. I think I have set myself up regardless whether it’s here or elsewhere. We’ll see. But I can’t say enough great things about Seattle.”
Tate has said he might consider a “hometown discount” to stay.
But Tate said that he will also have to make sure he gets what he feels he deserves.
Asked about being willing to take less to stay, he said “to an extent.”
“I still have to take care of myself and my family. I kind of have a number in my mind. I haven’t talked to my agent yet. Been trying to enjoy the Super Bowl for now and take that next step in the next week or two.
“I would rather stay and play in a great organization and great city and great team and great teammates for a little less than go to a crappy city and win a ballgame very now and then and be miserable for six months an and have a fan base that doesn’t care about the sport … so well see how it works out hopefully it works out.”
