The Times tonight is asking readers the seemingly simple question stated above — did the Super Bowl win validate the trade for Percy Harvin?
It can well be argued that the Seahawks made that trade to win the Super Bowl. And despite Harvin’s injury-riddled season, they did as hoped, with Harvin playing a key role once they got there.
Of course, Harvin also has five more years remaining on his deal, and as Pete Carroll said in his season-ending press conference, the team has just “scratched the surface” of how it may be able to use Harvin in the offense.
Harvin showed in the 10 quarters he played this season what an elite talent he remains. Now the task is remaining on the field for an entire season. Do that a few times, and the above question won’t have much of a debate.
For now, though, the question is a little muddier.
