Harbaugh: NaVorro Bowman likely to return midseason

San Francisco coach Jim Harbaugh said All-Pro linebacker NaVorro Bowman should return midseason in 2014. Bowman tore his ACL and MCL against the Seahawks in the NFC Championship game.

“Realistically?” Harbaugh said. “Halfway through the season or something like that would probably be more realistic. But I never underestimate NaVorro Bowman.”

Bowman’s leg-bending injury was gruesome to watch, but Harbaugh said he’s had plenty of people reach out to say the moment was inspirational. Indiana basketball coach Tom Crean, who is Harbaugh’s brother-in-law, even showed it to his team for inspiration.

“People were saying, ‘He knew he got hit, you could see his face grimace but he wasn’t going to let his team down and let the ball come loose,’” Harbaugh said. “It’s probably one of the most inspirational things I’ve seen in football. That’s resonated with people, people from all walks of life.”
