ESPN’s Adam Schefter Tweeted this morning that the Seahawks “are releasing” receiver Sidney Rice:
Seahawks are releasing WR Sidney Rice, per league source. Rice signed a five-year, $41 million contract in July 2011.

The tense is important here, as that has been a widely anticipated move and it will be no surprise if it happens.
However, team officials insisted here this morning at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis that no official move has yet been made. Could be just a matter of semantics because, as noted, this has been a move widely expected to happen since the end of the season due to Rice’s salary and the fact he is still rehabbing an ACL injury suffered in the win at St. Louis on Oct. 28.
So everyone could be right on this one. But as of this moment, the move is not yet official and no final decisions made, according to the Seahawks.
