Saturday links: Negotiating period has begun

Good morning/afternoon.

The three-day free agent negotiating period has begun (for a rather cryptic explanation of what it all means, check out this from Pro Football Talk).

Remember, the signing period begins Tuesday. So expect lots of rumors, but maybe not much real news, for the next few days.

Echoing the theme of our story, linked earlier, USA Today says Seattle’s primary task and challenge during free agency will be keeping the band together.

ESPN, meanwhile, has this wrapping up the news of Friday and what might be ahead.

Here are a few other links. …

— Here’s a wrapup of all of USA Today’s free agency team primers;

— DraftCountdown with a detailed look at who Seattle might take at 32;

— More on the Bears’ interest in Michael Bennett;

— And are the 49ers really interested in Bennett?;

— Finally, FootballOutsiders with a good free agency primer on the NFC West teams, including the Seahawks.
