Top Pot Doughnuts bids farewell to Golden Tate

When Golden Tate arrived in Seattle, the first bit of news he made had nothing to do with his play on the field.

After the news of Tate’s signing with the Detroit Lions broke on Wednesday, Top Pot’s Twitter account was on top of it, adding some well-placed humor to the situation, as Rebekah Denn docutments.

Tate infamously couldn’t resist Top Pot Doughnut’s before his rookie season even started. He did not get in any legal trouble because of the incident, but it was certainly an odd way to start his time in Seattle.

The wide receiver went on the embrace the incident, even helping promote the opening of a new Top Pot shop in Renton in 2012. Tate signed a five-year contract with the Lions on Wednesday, reportedly worth $31 million.
