Seahawks free agency tracker — Day Eight

Predictably, the flurry of news that greeted the first week of free agency slowed to a trickle as the first full day of the second week of free agency got underway.

The news of the day was the signing of DT Henry Melton, who visited Seattle last week, by the Cowboys (detailed in the post below).

There was also this from Pro Football Talk that tight end Jermichael Finley has yet to receive medical clearance to play, which understandably has teams like the Seahawks staying away from signing him for now.

As you can see below, the Seahawks have four of their own free agents that remain unsigned — TE Kellen Davis, OL Paul McQuistan, FB Michael Robinson and LB O’Brien Schofield.

At the moment, there are no indications that the Seahawks are close to signing any of them. Most notable of that group is Robinson, the popular fullback who was brought back to the team in October and got a Super Bowl ring, but who at age 31 might be close to the end of his football career. Seattle may be content to go into the season with Derrick Coleman and Spencer Ware at fullback.

Here’s the nightly recap, with some updated contract figures:

Cap Space update

As reported by the NFLPA, the Seahawks have salary cap room of $15.213 million. OverTheCap.com has also updated its salary cap projections
