Colin Kaepernick: “Sometimes you have to deal with someone who makes things up”

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick became the first of the three NFL players mentioned in a Miami police report regarding a suspicious incident last week to speak publicly. Two other players mentioned are Seahawks receiver Ricardo Lockette and 49ers receiver Quinton Patton.

Kaepernick broke his silence on the story this morning via Twitter, writing:

The story is particularly sensitive for Kaepernick since he is in the midst of attempting to negotiate a contract extension from the 49ers that could pay him $18-20 million yearly.

Miami police said Thursday they were continuing to investigate the case.

The Seahawks said Thursday that they were continuing to monitor the case in terms of Lockette’s involvement and would  have no further comment.

Lockette has not commented on the case, and has also been silent on Twitter since the news broke yesterday.
