Tuesday links: ESPN survey says Seahawks were big spenders in 2013

Interesting stuff here from an ESPN survey showing that the Seahawks spent more per player than 31 of the 32 teams in the NFL last season — $2.303 million — behind only the Minnesota Vikings.

The NFL salary cap obviously limits what teams can  spend, while also compelling them to spend a certain amount, and the full list of what every pro franchise spends shows NFL teams largely bunched  in a group from 115 to 187. As the story attached to the list states, the list makes clear how the salary cap limits NFL salaries and holds player salaries down to a level that probably surprises many who just look at the league’s popularity and assume players must be as highly paid as any sport.
