Marcus Trufant to retire as a Seahawk

marcustrufant

Marcus Trufant, who started 125 games in a Seattle career that lasted from 2003-12, has signed a contract with the team so he can then officially retire as a Seahawk on Thursday.

Trufant, a cornerback, was a first-round pick in 2003 out of Washington State and immediately moved into the starting lineup, playing a key role on the 2005 team that advanced to the franchise’s first Super Bowl.

Trufant was named a captain of the 2011 team, made the Pro Bowl in 2007 and was the team’s Man of the Year in 2006, among other honors.

A graduate of Wilson High in Tacoma, Trufant was in camp with the Jacksonsville Jaguars last year but cut before the season, playing all 136 games of his career as a Seahawk.

His 21 career interceptions are fifth in Seahawks history.

The team will hold a press conference with Trufant tomorrow at 11 a.m.
