Pro Football Talk: Was NFL wary of Seattle home blowouts in making schedule?

For those who may have wondered why Seattle has just one scheduled home prime time game — the season opener against Green Bay on Sept. 4 — Pro Football Talk tonight has what it says may be the answer.

Citing a league source, PFT says the NFL was wary of Seattle’s recent track record of home blowouts, which has made some games uncompetitive in the second half and led to declining TV ratings as the games wore on.

As the story notes, Seattle’s last three home prime time games were blowouts — 29-3 over the 49ers and 34-7 over the Saints in 2013 and 42-13 over the 49ers at the end of the 2012 season.

Seattle has four prime time games in 2014, but after the Green Bay contest, the other three are on the road — at Washington, at San Francisco and at Arizona.
