Report: Kevin Williams said he had good visit with Seahawks but nothing is imminent

The St. Paul Pioneer-Press tracked down former Vikings defensive tackle Kevin Williams, who visited the Seahawks earlier this week as he debates whether to play another season or retire.

As the story states:

Williams, who made $4.9 million last year, remains hopeful of getting a deal that would make it worthwhile to play next season. He said his visit to Seattle on Monday went well.

“It was a good visit, but nothing was decided,’’ he said. “I’m just waiting. I talked to pretty much everyone, the whole staff, general manager and coach, players. It was a mini-Vikings reunion.’’

As the story details, Williams may not want to play next year for what is referred to as “a low-value deal.” That, though, is likely all the Seahawks could afford with their obvious goal of signing Richard Sherman to a big extension soon.

Williams would seem a good fit as depth and insurance for the Seahawks up front after losing the likes of Red Bryant and Clinton McDonald, which will put the onus on quick progress from younger players such as Jordan Hill and Jesse Williams. But for now, it seems nothing is on the immediate horizon.
