Carroll confirms Russell Okung surgery

Pete Carroll confirmed when he met the media to discuss the draft tonight that left tackle Russell Okung recently had surgery on his foot.

Carroll said the injury was an attempt to finally fix the issues that plagued Okung last season — when he missed eight games — and that he should be ready for fall camp.

“He’s not working with us or conditioning as he can right now,” Carroll said, referring to the current off-season program “It’s going to be a while before we get him back. Probably close to camp time. It was stuff that needed to get done. It will give Alvin Bailey a great opportunity to get some real quality reps with the first group. … but Russell will be fine. Just something we had to do once the season was over. ”

“We know we will have him back for training camp but it may be sooner than that.”
