The NFL’s spring meetings are taking place as we speak, and one of the topics that might have interested fans the most — expanding playoffs — is apparently off the table for another season.
NFL.com is among those reporting that the league won’t vote on that now, meaning expanded playoffs won’t happen in 2014, leaving the format as is for this year. It could be considered again in 2015.
NFL.com also notes that the league is assembling a committee to discuss the future of the draft. Specifically, if it should be held in venues other than New York, and over how many days.
As we’ve reported here, Seattle has expressed interest in hosting the draft should the NFL decide to move it around. It has been held in New York since 1965.
