The Cardinals already lost linebacker Karlos Dansby to free agency this offseason. Now they might be without another starting linebacker from last year’s stellar defense.
According to a tweet from Mike Jurecki, a radio host for Fox Sports 910, linebacker Daryl Washington will miss the entire 2014 season, although Jurecki’s tweet doesn’t provide a reason or any more information than that. Other reporters who cover the Cardinals have since confirmed Jurecki’s report.
#Cardinals LB Daryl Washington will be suspended for the entire 2014 season, still gathering all the details.

Washington missed the first four games of last season for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy. But when Washington has been on the field, he’s been a productive and at times disruptive player for the Cardinals. Arizona fielded one of the league’s best defenses last year, and although an upgrade offensively was in order, returning a stout defensive unit was a key to the Cardinals competing for a playoff spot this season.
Both Washington and Dansby played inside linebacker in Arizona’s 3-4 defense last season.
