The Seahawks’ OTA for Monday has concluded. We’ll have some observations and quotes later.
For now, a few quick notes:
— WR Paul Richardson sat out the workout after jamming his shoulder in a practice last week. But Pete Carroll said it is not serious and he could have played if it was a game. They are just exercising caution right now and also want him to be available for mini-camp next week.
— Carroll said LB Bruce Irvin, who had hip surgery last week, should be ready for the start of the season. He said Irvin had had issues with the hip for a while and it was finally decided to have the surgery to get it done now. “He’s dealt with it for a long time and it just got to a point where we thought it was better to have a chance to have him back for the start of the season, which is a possibility, so we’ll see what happens,” Carroll said.
— Carroll dropped that RB Robert Turbin had an off-season surgery to clean up his knee and looks a little faster now. Marshawn Lynch was again not present, leaving all the TB reps to Turbin and Christine Michael.
— OL Michael Bowie was limited to about a third of the reps today after hurting his shoulder last week. But Carroll said Bowie is getting better. Bowie is splitting time at RT with rookie Justin Britt, who continues to draw raves.
— QB Tarvaris Jackson was not present due to what Carroll said was a family issue. With Jackson out, Terrelle Pryor ran the No. 2 offense almost exclusively and had one of his better days. B.J. Daniels ran the offense for a final series, though, and led a TD drive on which he was sharp with a few intermediate passes.
— Also out today were RB Spencer Ware, WR Chris Matthews and LB Heath Farwell along with guys who have already been ruled out for all of OTAs such as Malcolm Smith, Russell Okung and Kam Chancellor.
— And rookie DLs Andru Pulu and Cassius Marsh remain sidelined due to attending schools on the quarter system.
— Finally, here is some video of Carroll, including his comments on Irvin:
