Time to pass on a few links, beginning with my story today on guard Stephen Schilling, a former Bellevue High star hoping to finally find an NFL home with his hometown team.
As the story notes, the Seahawks are likely to keep nine or 10 offensive linemen — they had 10 for the Super Bowl — and have 15 OLs on the current roster. Schilling spent the off-season program running with the second unit at right guard, and right now would appear to be right in the hunt for one of the last spots on the roster.
And as the story also notes, offensive line coach Tom Cable has known Schilling since high school and said Schilling is off to a nice start with the Seahawks.
“We all have known about him since high school because we all recruited him,” Cable said. “He’s a guy who can play a couple spots, guard and center, so we’ve got a really, really good athlete who has got a good brain and he’s had a really since spring football. So we are kind of anxious to get to fall camp with him and just see what he’s capable of.”

— In an ESPN Insider piece, Mike Sando lists Tharold Simon as one of 10 players around the league who generated buzz during OTAs and mini-camps. Wrote Sando: “The Seahawks seemed unconcerned when cornerbacks Brandon Browner and Walter Thurmond signed elsewhere in free agency. Simon’s presence on the roster factored into their thinking, but it was tough to know what they had before Simon stepped onto the field this offseason following an injury-shortened rookie season. At 6-2, Simon fits the profile Seattle seeks in its corners. The 2013 fifth-round pick has consistently defended up passes and kept pace with receivers this offseason. All-Pro corner Richard Sherman frequently offered personal instruction.”
