Seahawks Daily Top 10: Jones’ big day, and more

Time for the 10.

But first, a note that today’s practice looms as one of the most interesting of the year for the Seahawks, as the team will scrimmage today at the VMAC. The practice is a little later than the rest as it won’t start until 1 p.m. But we will have our usual live blog up and rolling for it, as well as lots of coverage afterward.

1, Itseahawksdaily_top10‘s an historic day for the franchise as Walter Jones will be officially inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Jones will become just the third player who spent his entire career with the team to be inducted, joining Steve Largent and Cortez Kennedy. Seahawks.com has lots of coverage as does NFL.com.

The Enshrinement Ceremony is today at 1 p.m.:

2, As for the news of the day from the Seahawks camp, there wasn’t much on Friday as the team held a walk-through other than the presence of Marshawn Lynch. Seems unlikely he’d get into the scrimmage today, but soon he should get back on the field.

3, Yahoo.com says the obvious — that the Seahawks face a tremendous challenge in attempting to repeat. The story also includes this rather remarkable stat about Russell Wilson:

Stat fact: According to Pro-Football-Reference.com, among quarterbacks with at least 390 attempts in a season, only 43 in NFL history have ever posted a quarterback rating of 100 or higher. Seattle’s Wilson has done that twice in two seasons. That’s a remarkable achievement, and a reason that one would think the Seahawks will eventually start leaning more on Wilson and the passing game.

4, NFL officials visited Denver’s practice this week as they did Seattle’s (we’re planning something on this soon in our paper, as well). The Denver Post writes that it could impact the Seattle secondary as much as anyone. As we’ve noted a couple of times here earlier, the Seahawks don’t seem to think so.

Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib also doesn’t seem to think it will be a big deal, saying in the story: “There’s always talk about it, but once it’s September and the real games start, it will probably be regular.”

5, Remember that the Seahawks and Broncos play Thursday in Denver in a game that might feel a little different than the usual preseason game. The SportsChatPlace says to take the Seahawks.

6, SI.com with a fantasy preview of the Seahawks.

7, A pair of former Seahawks found new homes on Friday as defensive end Kenneth Boatright signed with Dallas and CB Chandler Fenner with the Giants.

8, NFL,com with 13 things you need to know from training camp around the league on Friday.

9, Injuries also piling up for the 49ers.

10, It’s Brandon Browner’s birthday, and he’s still repping the Seahawks on his Twitter page:
