Seahawks Daily Top 10: Looking back and ahead

What a great situation for the Seahawks to be in, isn’t it?

Hard to beat being 1-0 and able to sit back and watch the rest of the NFL battle it out this weekend — including their next opponent, San Diego, which is playing the late game Monday night. You’d think  that would provide a pretty significant advantage for the Seahawks when they play the Chargers down there next Sunday (and FYI, the Seahawks are an early 3.5-point favorite).

1, As I wrote for today’s paper, the Seahawks are going to have to add a body in the secondary at some point soon since they are likely to keep playing a lot of nickel the next two weeks.

Best-case scenario might be that the Jeremy Lane and Tharold Simon are out for the next two games, but then able to use the bye to get back for the fourth game of the season at Washington inseahawksdaily_top10 week five (though I’m sort of guessing on Lane since we got no specific timeline on him. He has a groin injury and those are often a little hard to set really specific timelines for, anyway).

But don’t be surprised to hear over the weekend — or at least by Monday — that Seattle has made an addition to its secondary.

2, Jayson Jenks, meanwhile, wrote a little more on Richard Sherman’s sort-of odd night against the Packers and Seattle’s plan to keep  him at left corner. Seahawks.com on that same topic. And if nothing else, we now have another season-long discussion point, examining where Sherman lines up and how teams attack him.

3, Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy insists the Packers didn’t intentionally avoid Sherman. NFL.com with more on what McCarthy had to say.

4, The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel with a good breakdown of what went wrong for Green Bay. ESPN with a similar review with some good insight on the Green Bay side.

5, Marshawn Lynch and Earl Thomas using the off Saturday night to host a celebrity bowling tournament.

6, An NFL.com video on Pete Carroll being the 21st Century coach.

8, Video breakdown of a key play in the game here:

9, As noted, the Seahawks next play the Chargers. Here are lots of good links on San Diego from ESPN.com’s Eric D. Williams.

10, Finally, a few more Tweets, leading off with a rumor that the Packers may be considering signing OT Eric Winston, released by the Seahawks a week ago, to help with the depth at right tackle after the MCL injury Thursday night to Bryan Bulaga:
