Quotes from Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson

Here are some quotes, and some video, of what Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson had to say after the 30-21 loss at San Diego Sunday:

On today being a tough game: “Yeah today was a tough game for us coming on the road but we fought hard. They did a great job, Philip Rivers had a great game and he played really well but the defense fought as hard as they could. We had a chance there at the end but I have to find a way to make something happen for us.”
On the game being taken out of the offense’s hands due to time of possession: “Their offense did a good job and they played their best game. They did a really good job and that’s
not easy to do against our defense. Guys were fighting on both sides of the ball and it’s unfortunate we came up with a loss because we had a chance.”
On the heat playing a factor in the loss: “I don’t think it was a factor. They made some plays when they really needed to and we made some plays when we needed to come back especially with those two minute drives but unfortunately we weren’t able to win it.”
What kept you from controlling the clock?: “Their offense did a really good job on third down when they had the ball. They continued to sustain drives and that kept us off of the field offensively. Normally our defense does a great job and they tried as much as they could. They played hard and kept us in the game and that’s all we can ask for is a chance. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to make those plays when I needed to and hopefully we can do it next week.”
On the team’s hurry-up offense: “I think the hurry-up offense shows how much we have progressed as an offense, my understanding of the plays, the system, and what we’re trying to do. We did a very good job of that which I think we have done the past 2 or 3 years for all of the games we’ve had to come back and win. I think that’s something we can hop into but we usually try to sustain the clock in terms of running the football but when we need to we can do it.”
On what the team mentality is after a loss as opposed to after a win: “You’re going to win some, you’re going to lose some and hopefully you win a lot more than you lose. We’re not really used to losing and we played a very good football team. We think about the Chargers as a playoff type team and they’ve done a lot of great things. They have a great quarterback in Philip Rivers who I truly respect. It was a tough game, we had a shot and when you go on the road and play a great team you want a shot but we just fell short. Next week we get to go back home but it’s going to be a challenging game against Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos. They’re a very good football team and we don’t have time to look back. We just have to stay in the moment and play one game at a time.”
