Bruce Irvin leads Seattle’s list of inactives against Denver

Defensive end/linebacker Bruce Irvin is among Seattle’s seven inactive players for Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos.

Irvin suffered a rib injury in practice on Wednesday and did not practice Thursday or Friday. Pete Carroll held out hope Friday Irvin would be able to play, but that won’t happen.

That will likely mean more snaps for O’Brien Schofield and Cassius Marsh as backup defensive ends/LEOs.

Also inactive for Seattle today are: CB Tharold Simon, RB Christine Michael, OTs Andrew McDonald and Gary Gilliam, WR Kevin Norwood and DE Greg Scruggs.

Simon continues to recover from minor knee surgery earlier this month. The rest are healthy scratches as Seattle had to pare its roster from 53 to 46 on gameday.

Seattle again has three running backs active — Marshawn Lynch, Robert Turbin and Derrick Coleman — and seven offensive line, with Stephen Schilling and Alvin Bailey as the backups.

For Denver, WR Wes Welker is active after having his suspension lifted earlier this week, but linebacker Danny Trevathan, who the team had hoped might return this week, is not.

Also inactive for Denver are WR Cody Latimer, CB Tony Carter, LB Lerentee McCray, G Ben Garland, OT Michael Schofield and DT Mich Unrein.
