Would Seahawks be a team of interest for Australian rugby star Jarryd Hayne?

News has broken in the last hour that Jarryd Hayne, a star rugby player in  Australia, is leaving that country to play in the NFL.

And given that in September he visited Seattle and toured the Seahawks’ facilities, the rumor mill immediately began churning that the Seahawks might be a team in which he would  be interested, and vice versa.

However, Hayne said that he has not spoken with any NFL team and plans first to move to Los Angeles to train and then pursue tryouts:

And it sounds as if his plan is to train and then land on a roster for 2015:

Seems like the most logical position for Hayne, listed at 6-2, 220 pounds, is running back.

UPDATE: Here’s an updated story on Hayne that makes it clear there’s a long ways to go before he signs with anyone, with one of his mentors saying it might be a two-year process.
