Seahawks GM John Schneider on Harvin trade: “The appropriate move at the appropriate time”

In his regular weekly segment on the Seahawks’ pre-game show, general manager John Schneider said the trade of Percy Harvin was “the appropriate move at the appropriate time.”

You can listen to the segment here.

Nothing real revelatory that addresses any of the stories that have arisen since the trade.

Schneider noted that the team made “a bold  move” to acquire Harvin and that it “just became apparent that thing were not going to work out and it wasn’t going to be a great fit moving forward.”

He said the team has had a plan in  place since he arrived and they are sticking with that plan and moves such as this are also made with future seasons in mind, which is obviously a reference to the cap space that will now clear up with the move of Harvin.

Schneider also said to expect the offense to look a little more like it did last year, saying  that “Percy is such a unique talent that he has to be used in a specific manner.”

He said the trade of Harvin is now a chance for players such as Paul Richardson, Kevin Norwood and Christine Michael.

“It’s an opportunity for people and we have to move forward with this,” he said.
