Seahawks injury updates for Wednesday: Luke Willson, Tharold Simon expected back to practice today

Here are a few of the key personnel updates from Pete Carroll’s meeting with the media today:

— Carroll said  TE Luke Willson and CB Tharold Simon were each expected to practice on Wednesday. Willson missed the St.  Louis game with a groin injury and Simon sprained an ankle in the first half. “That’s a good little boost for us we,” Carroll said. “We were concerned about those guys. Now we have to take them from day to day. But it’s good to have those guys back out there.”

— Carroll said CB Byron Maxwell won’t practice Wednesday but that he will do some conditioning stuff “just to check him out, see how he is tomorrow.” So sounds like maybe there’s a chance he plays this week but obviously far from certain.

— Carroll said C Max Unger is further behind Maxwell in returning  saying “he’s really on the track to getting back out there but we don’t know when yet.”

— DT Jordan Hill, Carroll said, is “still hobbling around a little bit” and unlikely to play.

— TE Zach Miller is out again this week and Carroll  admitted that “it’s been a little slower than we had hoped.” Carroll said Miller will make the trip with the team this week, apparently to see Dr. Robert Anderson, a noted foot specialist (the same guy Russell Okung saw last year) and that “hopefully he will make a good turn here. I think they talked about there is a good turn coming up here in the next week or so, so we should really see him get better quickly.” Still, Miller is now going to be out at least four weeks, and probably more, a bit more than some of the original reports.

— And asked about the signing Tuesday of TE Brett Brackett, Carroll said: “From what Ive seen on film he’s an all-around tight end. Good catcher, good route-runner. Seen him block. Saw him actively against guys at Jacksonville so I had a pretty good gauge guys that we knew that he was blocking. So we’ll see what happens.”

Here is video of Carroll’s opening statement and first few questions today, including some thoughts on the pass rush:
