Seahawks 13, Panthers 9: First impressions

Bob Condotta: Russell Wilson might have been off for much of the game, but he was right on when the team most needed him to be, expertly leading a nine-play, 80-yard drive that won the game and, it may not be hyperbole to say, kept the season alive.

Jayson Jenks: The Seahawks’’ pass rush has been an area of concern all season, and the Seahawk spent much of this past week talking about how they were going to fix it. Seattle’’s pass rush wasn’’t quite to the same level of the dominant group from a year ago, but the Seahawks made Cam Newton uncomfortable and looked their best when it mattered most: on the final drive of the game, the Seahawks sacked Newton twice and also forced a bad throw.

Jerry Brewer: Consider the nine-play, 80-yard drive that Russell Wilson orchestrated late in the fourth quarter the drive that saved the Seahawks season. In a game of terrible offensive execution and frustrating mistakes, Wilson was brilliant on that last drive, using his arm and his legs. His 23-yard touchdown pass to Luke Willson was a beauty. It was an ugly game, but it could be a victory that helps the Seahawks heal.
