Seahawks personnel updates and Pete Carroll and Richard Sherman video

There was a noticeably lighter atmosphere at the VMAC today as coach Pete Carroll and players met the media prior to practice. That’s what two wins and the absence of the post-Percy Harvin national media spotlight will do for a team.

Cornerback Richard Sherman happily took a question to begin his press conference about what he would ask himself if he could interview himself.

“What are you going to do next?” Sherman said. “Hum.”

Then he paused and said: “That’s how it would end the interview — a long, pondering stare.”

You can see that exchange below in the video of Sherman.

As the personnel news, here’s a quick rundown:

— S Kam Chancellor is expected to return to play Sunday but might be limited in practice.

— CB Jeremy Lane said he is 100 percent and excited to return to action Sunday.

— CB Byron Maxwell will practice later this week with the hope of returning Sunday.

— LT Russell Okung is also expected back this week but may also be limited in practice.

— C Max Unger is expected to play Sunday but was absent from practice today for a personal reason.

— SS Jeron Johnson will return this week.

— MLB Bobby Wagner and TE Zach Miller are out again this week. Carroll said each has taken a positive turn in recovery but is not ready yet this week. He said the hope is each will return to at least light practice next week and then go from there. Best guess? Neither plays until at least the Nov. 23 game against Arizona.

— Carroll said he didn’t know if WR Doug Baldwin will be able to play this week.

— OL James Carpenter has a sprained ankle but Carroll said it’s an injury Carpenter had in college and was able to play through and so the hope is he will be able to play through this one.

— With Baldwin questionable, Bryan Walters will again return punts. Expect Paul Richardson to remain as the kickoff returner.

— Carroll said the linebacker rotation will likely stay the same with Wagner and Smith still out, meaning Brock Coyle starting in the middle and K.J. Wright on the weakside.
