The Seattle Times will highlight a 12th Fan of the Week throughout the season. Each fan will predict the outcome of the next Seahawks game against a Seattle celebrity and Times reporters and columnists.
Name: Patricia Allegretti
Resides: In Pacific Palisades, Calif., for the past two years after 37 years living in Everett.
School: McLane High School in Fresno Calif.; Holy Names University in Oakland, Calif.
Family: Two daughters, Jane Harris and Maggie Nielson, also live in the Los Angeles area. Son Joseph Ragland still lives in Seattle. “With the exception of one son-in-law (a Dallas fan), we’re all true blue and green for the Hawks,” Allegretti says.
Occupation: Semi-retired teacher
Seahawks fan for: 38 years. “I moved to Washington in 1975. Having always been an avid football fan, I was thrilled when the Seahawks made their debut at that first game on Aug. 1, 1976. How, you ask, do I remember that exact date? See below.”
Favorite Seahawks: “Currently, Russell Wilson and Richard Sherman. I love their work ethic and interest in kids. And from days of old, Efren Herrera (a Seahawks placekicker, 1978-81). It seemed like he never missed a kick”.
Memorable moment: “Other than our 2014 Super Bowl win, my most memorable moment was just getting to watch the Hawks in the Super Bowl against Pittsburgh. Remember the huge storm? To make it to a party in Edmonds, I had to take numerous detour routes around downed trees and telephone poles to get there. But with no power at my residence, I wasn’t about to stay home.”
Fast facts: “Back to that date of Aug. 1, 1976. I had tickets to that inaugural game. My daughter, however, decided to also make her inaugural entry into this world. So at about 9 that morning I found myself at Overlake Hospital in Bellevue. Luckily, she was fast (she later became a cross-country and track runner for UW), and I got to watch the game from my hospital bed.”
Prediction: Seahawks 24, Chiefs 13 – The Chiefs have hit a good stride, and so have the Hawks – and more definitively.
