Seahawks expected to sign defensive tack Travian Robertson

The Seattle Seahawks are expected to sign defensive tackle Travian Robertson, who had been on the practice squad of the Atlanta Falcons.

Robertson announced via Twitter Monday night that he is heading to Seattle and it is expected he will soon officially sign with the Seahawks.

The 6-4, 305-pounder from South Carolina is a nose tackle, and as such would help the Seahawks replace the injured Brandon Mebane, who was sorely missed in Sunday’s 24-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. In the first game without Mebane, Seattle allowed a season-high 190 rushing yards to the Chiefs.

Here is Robertson’s Falcons bio¬†and his NFL.com bio showing his stats over the last two years. He has not played this season but played in 12 games in 2012 and 2013. And here’s his college bio.

Seattle would have to make a move to get Robertson on the 53-man roster, but it’s unclear at this moment what the corresponding move would be.

It’s also expected that the Seahawks will sign Lemuel Jeanpierre to fill in at center with Max Unger out 3-4 weeks, at least, with ankle and knee injuries. So that would mean making two moves over the next day or so.

As for Robertson, the Falcons’ SBNation site seems pretty annoyed that he got away.
