Seahawks avoid disaster on Jon Ryan punt

The Seahawks were forced to punt with 2:36 to go in the first half from the Seattle 25 already ahead 13-0.

That’s when it got interesting.

Seahawks punter Jon Ryan bobbled the snap, then somehow got the punt away with a 49ers defender bearing down on him. Then Perrish Cox, a former Seahawk, ran the punt back to the San Francisco 40 before the Seahawks’ Ricardo Lockette punched the ball out and O’Brien Schofield recovered the ball at the 49ers 40. A golden opportunity to extend the lead quickly soured, however, when Marshawn Lynch was hit with a taunting penalty on the first play after the fumble recovery.

That took them out of field goal range and the Seahawks eventually punted again.
