Seahawks snap counts vs. 49ers

Here are the snap counts for Seattle’s win over the 49ers Thursday night.
And what is really striking is how compressed the rotations have become in the last few weeks.
Seattle’s defense is back to health, and the Seahawks are relying on those proven commodities right now — the starting back seven all played each of the 58 defensive snaps there were in the game.
The only changes on defense were due to the nickel package and rotating up front.
Seattle’s nickel consisted almost solely of Tharold Simon and Jordan Hill subbing in for Tony McDaniel and Kevin Williams, hence the reasons the snap counts of those players are similar (Simon 39, Hill 38 and McDaniel and Williams each at 19) and the differences between the two sets add up to basically the total snaps there were for the game. (And as for Simon, recall that in the nickel he played the other outside corner with Byron Maxwell moving inside. As the snap counts show, Seattle never had more than five DBs on the field against the 49ers).
The only other rotating came in giving some snaps to O’Brien Schofield (who subbed for Cliff Avril) and Demarcus Dobbs (who subbed for Michael Bennett).
You heard Richard Sherman say after the game that the defensive gameplan was pretty basic, relying on the talents of the players. The snap counts make that pretty evident that in terms of personnel, Seattle kept this one fairly simple, which is when the Seahawks tend to be at they best.
Offensively, each of the five starting linemen played all 65 snaps, and you’d assume thats the starting OL that they’ll use until Max Unger comes back.
And there were also a lot of snaps for tight ends Tony Moeaki and Luke Willson, and a bit more for fullback Will Tukuafu (19).
