The stunning college football news of the day — that Oregon State has hired Gary Andersen away from Wisconsin to be its head coach — could trickle down to the Seahawks.
Already being mentioned as a possible candidate to replace Andersen is Seattle offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, who played quarterback for the Badgers from 1992-95, leading them to the Rose Bowl following the the 1993 season.
Bevell regularly speaks to the media here following practice on Wednesday, but didn’t know about Andersen leaving until told about it by a reporter during that session.
Bevell has been rumored to be a candidate for a few head coaching jobs the last few seasons, including Minnesota and Arizona.
He said today that his goal remains to be a head coach at either the college or NFL level.
“Being a head coach someday is of interest to me,” he said. “I would say I have thought about college. I don’t know exactly at this point where it would be or what it would be. But I do feel like I want to be a head coach someday.”
