Wednesday Seahawks news and notes: Preparing for a rivalry rematch

Not too long ago, it was this apparent gauntlet of a stretch of the schedule — two games against the 49ers in 18 days sandwiching a trip to Philadelphia — that seemed so daunting.

Now, after winning the first two legs with ease on the road, Seattle returns home in position to take care of business more easily than just about anyone other than themselves might have imagined.

The Seahawks will return to work at the VMAC today to begin preparing for the rematch against the 49ers,  team suddenly reeling in a manner that few also could have imagined even a few weeks ago.

But don’t expect the Seahawks to publicly get caught up much in those story lines. It’s still the 49ers, anything can happen in the NFL, and every game remains a must-win for the Seahawks.

Seattle coach Pete Carroll and some players will meet the media later today and we’ll pass along the highlights.

For now, some morning links. …
