Referee for Seahawks-49ers: Ed Hochuli

For the second time in four home games, the Seahawks will get one of the more high-profle officials to referee their game — Ed Hochuli.

As reported by FootballZebras.com, Hochuli’s crew will handle Sunday’s Seattle-49ers contest at CenturyLink Field. Hochuli’s crew also did Seattle’s 30-24 win over the Raiders on Nov. 2.

As I noted then, of late Seattle can’t complain about Hochuli’s presence as the Seahawks have won the last five games he has refereed, including the most recent, a 34-7 regular-season victory over the Saints on a Monday night last December (here’s Hochuli’s complete record).

Hochuli’s crew ranks fifth in number of penalties called per game, according to ESPN.com.

And Hochuli wasn’t shy about throwing flags at CenturyLink earlier this season as Seattle was called for nine penalties against the Raiders, tied for the fourth-most this season.
