Prediction time: Times staffers unanimous in picking the Seahawks

Below are all of my picks for this weekend’s NFL games.

Included is my prediction on the Seahawks game — I’m picking Seattle 27-10.

That pick is also included here along with all of the predictions from Seattle Times staffers.

As maybe could be expected given the way the two teams have played of late, everyone is siding with Seattle.

As I wrote in the above link, I expect the 49ers to make life difficult for the Seahawks for a while. I fully anticipate the 49ers showing a lot more life than they did last week against the Raiders. This is their last shot to make anything of the season, and you would also figure they’ll want to prove some points to the Seahawks.

The 49ers also can’t have a less imaginative offensive gameplan than they did in the first game, In particular, it seems hard to fathom that with nothing to lose that they wouldn’t figure out a way to get Colin Kaepernick running a bit more. It seems like the most dangerous weapon they have, and why they didn’t put him in more positions to run in the first game is a mystery.

Defensively, the 49ers remain solid and gave Seattle a lot of problems in the first game and likely will so again Sunday.

But ultimately, I think Seattle is playing too well right now and the 49ers’ too offensively limited. That, and the home field, should lead to the Seahawks pulling away late and ultimately winning comfortably.
