Cowboys win, making Dallas only NFC team to hold a tiebreaker on the Seahawks

The Cowboys held on to beat the Eagles 38-27 tonight.

And that means Dallas continues to hold a tiebreaker on Seattle in any two-team tie due to its win against the Seahawks at CenturyLink Field in October (darn Percy Harvin).

Seattle would win three-team ties with the Cowboys due to a better conference record (you can view updated standings and conference records here).

If Seattle wins out, it would also hold tiebreakers thanks to head-to-head with Arizona, Green Bay and Philadelphia. Seattle also has holds a tiebreaker on Detroit due to a better against common opponents.

So in essence, if Seattle wins out, the only thing that would prevent the Seahawks from having home field advantage throughout the playoffs would be finishing in a two-team tie with Dallas.

That could happen if Arizona were to lose two more (against Seattle and the 49ers) and the Lions and Packers each lose one ore (they play each other, so that’s guaranteed to happen).

Dallas hosts Indianapolis next Sunday and then plays at Washington on the final weekend.

Also, as we all know, the season does not end today. But if it did, Seattle would be the No. 5 seed and head to, well, Carolina, which at 5-8-1 is the unlikely leader of the NFC South. Here’s a complete breakdown of the bracket.
