As always, some Friday links and notes from Pro Football Focus:
PFF Team of the Week for Week 15 with mentions of Marshawn Lynch and Bobby Wagner.
Without the services of Max Unger since Week 11, Russell Wilson has been under severe pressure while passing. Over the last four games, he has been pressured on 55.1% of his dropbacks, the highest for any QB. His 68.4% Accuracy while passing under pressure is just above average ranking 11th of 35.
The Seahawks shuffling players on the O-line hasn’t helped either. Since Week 12, they are 27th in Pass Block Efficiency, allowing41 pressures. Justin Britt ranks 64th of 72 in PBE for tackles and J.R. Sweezy ranks 66th of 72 in PBE for guards.
Richard Sherman and Kam Chancellor are sure happy that Wagner is back. Since he’s come back, both have seen drastic increases in their Coverage Snaps/Reception metric. In the five games without Wagner, Sherman had an 11.6 and Chancellor a 12.8. With Wagner, Sherman 60.5 and Chancellor 39.7. Wagner might be more vital to the secondary than people realize.
While it is a bit apples to oranges, historically Ryan Lindley has always gotten rid of the ball quickly. Using data from 2012, in 184 dropbacks Lindley’s average Time to Throw was 2.38 seconds. Looking at this year’s TTT stats, 2.38 seconds would rank fourth-fastest. While he shares TTT similarities with Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, his pass accuracy is vastly different. In 2012 his Accuracy Rate was 63.5% and when compared to this season, would rank dead last.
