Referee for Seahawks-Cardinals: Walt Anderson

The referee for the Seattle-Arizona game Sunday night is Walt Anderson, according to FootballZebras.com.

Anderson, interestingly, hasn’t worked a game involving the Seahawks since 2012, a 13-6 loss at San Francisco early in Russell Wilson’s rookie season (here is his game chart).

The Seahawks are 0-3 in games refereed by Anderson since Pete Carroll took over, but all came in Carroll’s first two-and-a-half years as coach.

According to ESPN, Anderson’s crew throws the third-most flags per game. So there’s that.

As that story notes, Anderson’s crews have been particularly fond of calling illegal use of hands. So everyone has been warned.

Anderson is also currently the coordinator of officials for the Big 12 and used to be a dentist.
