During an interview today on SiriusXM NFL Radio, Seattle coach Pete Carroll spoke pretty openly about some of the head coaching opportunities that could be on the horizon for some of the team’s assistants.
You can listen to it here.
Specifically, Carroll said that offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell has already interviewed with the Oakland Raiders and confirmed that offensive line/assistant head coach Tom Cable will interview with the Jets this weekend and said that defensive coordinator Dan Quinn is up for three different jobs (presumably the 49ers, Jets and Falcons).
Carroll said Bevell interviewed with Oakland “the other night.”
He said of Cable that he will interview with the Jets and that “people will love him” and called him “a great accent” to Seattle’s success.
And of Quinn, he said he “is up for three different jobs, so he’s really hot right now.”
Assistants for teams like the Seahawks, who have a bye the first weekend of the playoffs, can interview this week with teams. They cannot interview again until their team is eliminated.
Carroll referred to that, saying “there’s a lot going on in that regard but it’s a good time to do it.”
