Video: Seahawks receiver Doug Baldwin on Jim Harbaugh — “Go Buckeyes” — and more

Seattle receiver Doug Baldwin was among players who met the media prior to practice today, with the Seahawks on the field today and tomorrow to get in a little work before taking the weekend off.

Along the way, Baldwin got in a little parting shot as his former college coach, Jim Harbaugh.

Asked what he thinks of Harbaugh leaving the 49ers, he said: “I wish him the best of luck. I know he’s anxious to get that program turned around and do some great things at Michigan. So I wish him the best of luck. And go Buckeyes.”

Just to make sure it’s not missed, the last statement was a reference to Michigan’s rival, Ohio State.

Baldwin was smiling a little (I think) as he said it.

But Baldwin has not been shy about stating that he had some issues with Harbaugh during his time at Stanford (Baldwin was recruited there by Harbaugh’s predecessor, Walt Harris).

Here’s a transcript from before the NFC title game last January where Baldwin talked about that at length, including that he thought about transferring to Vanderbilt for his final season, saying in part that: “All of you guys know that Jim Harbaugh and I did not have the best of relationships while I was at Stanford, but all of that stuff is settled now. I was immature, I was a young athlete who thought I knew everything so we clashed at times, and I was dealing with injuries so that kind of held and prevented me from performing how I wanted to on the field. So a lot of things went into it.”

Baldwin also talked about the advantage Seattle has in getting a bye week.

“I don’t know how comfortable it is,” he said. “I do know that it’s a necessity for us to get healed up because we had such an early bye, mentally and physically. However, we are anxious to get back to the grind. We are anxious to get back to playing football because we know where we are right now.”

You can watch more of what Baldwin had to say in the video below, including his thoughts on whether the Seahawks had a Super Bowl hangover this season:
