Seahawks place Jordan Hill on IR, sign DB Steven Terrell

The Seahawks this afternoon announced they have placed DT Jordan Hill on Injured Reserve, signed S Steven Terrell from the practice squad to the active roster and signed DT Jimmy Staten to the practice squad.

Hill suffered what coach Pete Carroll called “a pretty severe” calf pull during a workout over the weekend. Being placed on IR means he is done for the season. The team hopes Demarcus Dobbs returns to health and can fill in Hill’s role as a backup DT and a regular in the nickel packages.

Hill played in 13 games this season, recording 19 tackles (15 solo), including 5.5 sacks in the last six games, three fumble recoveries and recorded an interception vs. St. Louis.

Terrell was signed to Seattle’s active roster from the practice squad on October 11 but was released on October 14 and re-signed to the practice squad on October 15. He was signed to the active roster October 18 but was released November 18 and added back to the practice squad on November 19. He has played in four games in 2014 with one special teams tackle. Terrell originally signed with Seattle on July 26, 2014. He was cut on August 30 and signed to the practice squad on September 1. He spent parts of 2013 on both Jacksonville and Houston’s practice squads.

Staten was drafted by Seattle with the 32ndĀ pick of the fifth round (172ndĀ overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft. He was released August 30 but signed to Seattle’s practice squad on August 1 and has spent the season on and off the practice squad.
