Prediction time — and some Seahawks links

Kickoff is now just over 24 hours away as I write this.

Hopefully we’ve covered just about every angle for you in counting down to the Seattle-Carolina game.

From an analysis standpoint, hope you saw our breakdown of the game that ran in today’s special section — here it is.

Also, here are predictions. We’re either all homers, or just thinking that an 11-point favorite that is the defending Super Bowl champ is going to be hard to beat on its home field. But we are all picking the Seahawks to win. My score is 21-9, and as I explained in each of those linked pieces, I can see it being a defensive struggle for a while, sort of like every other game these teams have played the last three years, but with the Seahawks eventually pulling away.

For some different views of the game, and some other stuff, here are a few links from other sources. …

  • ESPN’s Carolina blog writer picks the Panthers. But ESPN’s Terry Blount picks the Seahawks.

  • Seahawks.com on the new challenge posed by Carolina’s re-made secondary.
  • 538.com says Seattle’s Super Bowl odds improved last week simply by getting to play the Panthers.
  • A real numbers-oriented breakdown from FootballOutsiders.
  • Seattle defensive coordinator Dan Quinn still on the radar for the Bears (just remember he can’t be hired now until Seattle’s season is over, one reason you aren’t hearing much on the Seattle assistant front this week).
