Pro Football Focus previews Seattle-Carolina game

Here is the weekly package of links and stats from Pro Football Focus previewing Seattle’s divisional playoff game Saturday:
Articles:
ReFocused article from the past week’s Cardinals/Panters Wild Card game
PFF regular season accolades: All-Pro Team, All-Pro Special Teams, Offensive POTY, Defensive POTY, Bruce Matthews Award (best O-lineman), and the Dwight Stephenson Award (PFF’s best player)
Offensive line breakdown for the regular season
Signature Stats:
A tale of two accuracies–Russell Wilson’s 76.0% Accuracy Percentage is currently sixth whereas Cam Newton is 35th (of 38) at 67.2%. Both have similar deep pass attempts and deep pass attempt rates yet Wilson’s accuracy on these are 46.2% (11th of 37) compared to Newton’s 32.7% (32nd of 37).
This game features the two running backs at the top of our Elusive Rating. However, there is a sizable gap between the two with Lynch at 94.3 while Stewart is “only” at 80.1.
Unger coming back is big for the O-line. Even with him playing only half the season, Seahawks are slightly-above average in total QB pressures allowed. Median for the league is 171 and the Seahawks have only allowed 158. Carolina on the other hand has allowed 188 (eighth-most).
The key on both defenses will be linebacker play, especially in coverage. Both Bobby Wagner and Luke Kuechly are very good players but Wagner (8.6) has the far better Coverage Snaps/Target metric than Kuechly (6.2). To further crystalize this, of the 55 inside linebackers who played at least 25%, Wagner ranks 26th while Kuechly is 50th.
