Seahawks add B.J. Daniels to active roster to take spot of Paul Richardson

The Seahawks will add third-team quarterback B.J. Daniels to the active roster to take the spot of Paul Richardson, who is out for the rest of the season with an ACL injury.

But coach Pete Carroll said Daniels could have a larger role saying he could fit into the return games — Richardson was the team’s primary kickoff returner — and also works often in practice at other offensive skill position roles. Carroll specifically mentioned Daniels has been practicing at both receiver and running back.

Carroll called it a good reward for Daniels, who was on the active roster for weeks 5-9 last season but did not see action.

Carroll also said cornerback Byron Maxwell is feeling better today and indicated he could be okay for Sunday.

And he said again that center Max Unger is okay and that the team dodged a bullet with his injury.

He also said TE Tony Moeaki should be back after sitting out the Carolina game with a calf injury.

Seattle coach Pete Carroll talks to the media Monday.
