Secondary market for Seattle-Green Bay game continuing to run a little behind last year

The trend of tickets on the secondary market for Sunday’s NFC title game running a little bit behind last year continues, according to figures today from TiqIQ.com.

It’s a trend Bloomberg News wrote about this week, declaring that Seahawks fans have “fatigue” since the prices are not as high this season as a year ago

As we noted the other day, it may be a little more complicated than that. Local ticket brokers say one big difference is that they are not getting the kind of interest from out of the area as they did last season — meaning, 49ers fans bought more tickets than Green Bay fans appear to be buying, hence ratcheting up the market a bit more (and the presumed reason for that is mostly distance — a lot easier to get here from San Francisco than Green Bay on a week’s notice).

It’s also still hardly cheap, and brokers say there could be something to the idea that last year’s game — being just the second hosted by Seattle in its history and coming before the team had won a Super Bowl — was viewed as a once-in-a-lifetime thing, where this year’s game may not be viewed as being quite that unique.

TiqIQ.com reports this morning that the current average price for the Seattle-Green Bay game is $632.32 and that the get-in price is $316 (and it’s worth noting that these prices fluctuate throughout the day and also from site to site).

That contrasts to an average ticket price of $791.40 and a get-in price of $363.

TiqIQ.com also reports that the most expensive ticket is Charter 132, Row B for $3,900-plus per seat.

  • Below are the average price (get in) for all previous NFC Championship games:
    • 2010: Vikings @ Saints: $692.79 ($355)
    • 2011: Packers @ Bears: $1,157.23 ($267)
    • 2012: Giants @ 49ers: $597.17 ($310)
    • 2013: 49ers @ Falcons: $362.79 ($178)
    • 2014: 49ers @ Seahawks: $791.40 ($363)
  • Below is the average price (get in) for the AFC Championship Game
    • Colts @ Patriots: $447.36 ($252)
