Here’s an announcement straight from the Seahawks on the performers for Sunday’s game:

Multi-Platinum Rock Band Alice in Chains to Perform Live at Halftime

Katharine McPhee will perform the National Anthem

RENTON, Wash. – The Seattle Seahawks announced today that multi-platinum rock band Alice in Chains will perform at halftime of the NFC Championship Game on Sunday, January 18.

Alice in Chains, a Seattle-based band, is one of the most successful and influential American alt-rock bands. The band recently wrapped a worldwide tour in support of Grammy-nominated album The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here, which entered Billboard‘s Top 200 Chart at No. 2 and debuted at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Alternative Albums Chart, Top Rock Albums Chart, Hard Rock Albums Chart and iTunes Rock Album Chart. The album’s first two singles, “Stone” and “Hollow,” both hit No. 1 on the rock charts, with their companion videos racking up more than five million combined YouTube views.

Over the course of their remarkable career, Alice in Chains (vocalist/guitarist Jerry Cantrell, vocalist/guitarist William DuVall, drummer Sean Kinney and bassist Mike Inez) has garnered multiple Grammy nominations, sold more than 25 million albums worldwide and amassed a diehard international fanbase whose members number in the millions. Alongside Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden, Alice in Chains were one of the Big Four to emerge from Seattle and went on to change the sound of modern rock.

Additionally, Katharine McPhee will perform the National Anthem prior to kickoff. McPhee, an accomplished actress and recording artist, first burst onto the scene in 2005 on Season 5 of American Idol.  She is well-known to television audiences starring as Karen Cartwright opposite Debra Messing in both seasons of the musical drama Smash. Currently, she is starring in CBS hit show, Scorpion.
