Secondary market ticket prices for Seattle-Green Bay game picking up a little bit

As brokers had expected, prices for tickets on the secondary market for the NFC Championship game Sunday between Seattle and Green Bay are beginning to pick up as kickoff nears.

James Kimmel, co-owner of Seattle-based Epic Seats, said the lowest-priced tickets today were in the “high $300s” and that he thought it would get to around $400 by Saturday.

“There was a lull in the middle of the week and it’s really picking up here today,” he said. “This has been our biggest sales day since Sunday so we are seeing a lot of tickets come off the secondary market. Prices are ticking up slowly.”

Tickets are still running a little below the Seattle-San Francisco title game of last season, which Kimmel sai were consistently in the $450-500 range and grew to $600 just to get in the door by kickoff.

He said the average ticket price right now is about $450.

Kimmel said what appears to be the biggest reason for a drop in price is that there are not as many out-of-town buyers as a year ago.

Last year, Kimmel said there was heavy action from San Francisco fans, who could make a pretty short and cheap trip up. That’s not the case with Green Bay, where the options are more limited and more expensive to make the quick decision to make the trip.

The website TiqIQ.com, meanwhile, passed along some slightly different numbers tonight. Here is what it reported:

  • The current average price for the Packers v Seahawks is $605.64
  • The get in price is currently $317
  • The most expensive ticket currently listed for this game is Charter 134 Row A for $4,100+ per seat
  • Below are the average price (get in) for all previous NFC Championship games:
    • 2010: Vikings @ Saints: $692.79 ($355)
    • 2011: Packers @ Bears: $1,157.23 ($267)
    • 2012: Giants @ 49ers: $597.17 ($310)
    • 2013: 49ers @ Falcons: $362.79 ($178)
    • 2014: 49ers @ Seahawks: $791.40 ($363)
  • Below is the average price (get in) for the AFC Championship Game
    • Colts @ Patriots: $396.29 ($210)
