Seahawks WR Chris Matthews fined $11,025 for making obscene gesture

Turns out it was a busy day of fine levying by the NFL against the Seahawks as it has been learned that receiver Chris Matthews received a $11,025 fine for making an obscene gesture, apparently following Marshawn Lynch’s 24-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s NFC Championship game win over the Packers.

Lynch (in the Tweet below) referred to a fine for a teammate shaking his hand after a touchdown. Indications are that it is the fine levied on Matthews to which Lynch is referring. Matthews was not on the field for the Lynch play but came onto the field to join in the celebration (here’s a picture appearing to show the infraction — essentially, grabbing an area of his body that the NFL would prefer go ungrabbed).

It’s one of three fines given to Seattle players in the game as Lynch was also fined $20,000 for making an obscene gesture following the play and guard J.R Sweezy was fined $8,268 for his unnecessary roughness penalty on Clay Matthews.
